AlleyScan privacy policy

Last updated: [DATE]

AlleyScan is made by Ships in Orbit Studio. This page explains, in plain words, what the app does with your information. The short version: what you scan stays on your iPhone.

What stays on your iPhone

Everything you save in AlleyScan (the codes you scan, cons, tags, notes, booth numbers and prices) is stored only on your iPhone. AlleyScan has no accounts, and we don't upload what you save to our servers.

If your iPhone backs up to iCloud, your AlleyScan data is included in that backup, under your Apple account and Apple's terms.

Camera and photos

AlleyScan uses the camera only to read QR codes while the scanner is open. It doesn't record or save photos or video. If you choose to import screenshots or photos, AlleyScan reads only the images you pick, looking for QR codes, and doesn't keep the images.

Link previews

When a saved code is a web link, AlleyScan may fetch that page's title and preview image so your list is easier to browse. This is the same request your browser makes when you open the link, so that website can see your device's IP address, like any visit. AlleyScan doesn't fetch previews for links it flags as risky, and doesn't need to for social profiles it can already name from the link.

Usage analytics

To learn which features are used, AlleyScan sends anonymous usage events to PostHog, our analytics provider, such as "a code was saved" or "a tag was added". These events never include what you scanned: no links, handles, notes, prices or con names. They're tied to a random identifier for your device, not to your name or Apple account. You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Share usage data.

Deleting your data

Go to Settings → Delete everything to erase every con and saved item from the app, or delete the app from your iPhone. Because nothing is stored on our servers, there's nothing else for us to delete.

Children

AlleyScan isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes (for example, if we add optional accounts and sync), we'll update this page and the date above before the change reaches the app.
